Cesis – a small, old city located 90 kilometers from Riga. In 2006, Cesis celebrated its 800th anniversary, and it still has a unique medieval atmosphere. It is a wonderful place for leisurely walks.

The New Cesis Castle
It was built at the end of the 16th century in the place where the gates of the old castle fortification wall used to be. It is the most significant cultural and historical object and tourist attraction in Cesis. In the smithy of ancient jewellery you can view copies of ancient jewellery artefacts and learn about their meaning and wearing traditions. The old coach house-stable has been converted into the town Exhibition House.
Rujiena Ice Cream
Here you can watch a video about ice cream making, taste a wide variety of freshly made delicacies, and try your hand at being a confectioner by making an ice cream of your choice. An appetizing excursion through the world of Rujiena Ice Cream, where products are only made with natural cow's milk.
Dzērbene castle was built at the end of the 18th century in the style of classicism. At the end of the 19th century a massive neo-gothic style tower was added. The castle is surrounded by a cascade of seven ponds. A part of the central territory of the manor used to be enclosed by a rock wall with a gate, of which only the gate poles are left now.
Chinchilla farm in Rujiena
Currently there are about 1500 chinchillas growing in the farm. You will have an opportunity to learn everything about the origins, lifestyle and habits of these cute creatures. Chinchillas are not afraid of people at all, and they will calmly let you hold them in your hands.
Recreational complex "Raksi"
Nature and animal lovers will be glad to meet the exotic inhabitants of this complex – friendly lamas, alpacas, camels un guanacos. Besides, in addition to looking at these animals, you will also have an opportunity to take them for a stroll along the picturesque riverbank of Gauja.
The Medieval Cesis Castle
Cesis Stone Castle is one of the most significant historical buildings from medieval time in Latvia. It was built in the early 13th century, rebuilt and expanded several times, and it acquired its final architectural form at the beginning of the 16th century. Today, this castle is an example of medieval architecture.
St. John's Church
It was built in 1283-84 and was named the Cathedral of the Livonian Order. St. John's church is the largest medieval basilica outside Riga and the tallest building in Cesis – it is visible from all sides of the town.
Riga is the “Paris of the Baltics” and offers visitors the richest Art Nouveau architecture in Europe and more than 50 museums.
It is a welcoming and suggestive river-side city, a cosmopolitan city par excellence, with an actual maze of little streets and buildings with typical wooden decorations.
